Lincoln takes sixth in Mark Fuller Tourney

Burns and Cook battle to the top

Pulling together to score 105 points, the Lincoln High wrestling team earned sixth place and two gold medals out of 20 teams in the annual Mark Fuller Tournament held at Lincoln High Saturday.

Oakmont claimed the No. 1 trophy, nosing out Roseville 171-167. Vacaville was third with 120 points.

In the individual bouts, senior Nic Burns captured top prize at 132 pounds. Junior Lucas Cook claimed the 285-pound title and was also named Outstanding Heavyweight Wrestler.

Cook is ranked 32nd by The California Wrestler and No. 4 in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. The Junior is 6-0 on the season, all by falls.

Burns is 7-1 and has five falls to his credit.

Dylan Shoro placed fourth at 160 pounds and Johnny Maciel was No. 4 at 195 pounds. Shoro is a freshman.

Lincoln is scheduled to wrestle in the Saavedra Tournament in Wheatland Saturday.
