Mellish SMAL MVP, Pomeroy Coach of the Year

Western Sierra nets six all league

After setting a number of school records in girls volleyball, the Western Sierra Collegiate Academy was given a number of honors by the Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League.

At the top of the list was setter Brenna Mellish, who was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. In her first year at the helm, Wolves head coach Morghan Pomeroy received the Coach of the Year award.

Mellish, who had 569 assists this season, was also first on the team in serving aces and service points. The senior was second in digs and third in blocks.

She was at the top of the league statistics chart in both assists and aces, was second in digs and third in kills.

But Mellish was not alone on the all-league list for the SMAL champions.

Making first team was Emily MacIntyre and MacKinley Hamm. Second team honors went to Desiree McAdams

Receiving honorable mention were Moriah Kawas and Olivia Droen.

Hamm is a freshmen, McAdams a sophomore and Kawas a junior.
