Semper Fi Association highlights Toys for Tots at Saturday’s paradeBy: Ben Hovis
Semper Fi Association has sponsored and coordinated Toys for Tots in south Placer County since 2005.
Frank Neves, Toys for Tots coordinator for the 2018 campaign, would like to share some Toys for Tots progress over the years.
Toys for Tots was founded by the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
Since its inception in 1948, Toys for Tots has distributed millions of toys to millions of kids in need annually. In fact, in the last 16 years, Toys for Tots has distributed an average of 18,000,000 toys to an average of over 7,000,000 kids annually.
In our region, Travis Air Force Base and the Marine Corps Reserve Center in Sacramento are two military installations that have Toys for Tots programs. Other Toys for Tots programs locally are run by or local community organizations, which are authorized to conduct Toys for Tots campaigns in the community.
Our local component is known as Toys for Tots Southwest Placer County, which covers Lincoln, Penryn, Newcastle, Granite Bay, Rocklin and Roseville. Toys for Tots wants to wish all members of the community a very merry Christmas and the best for the upcoming New Year. We also want to thank all of you for your very generous support of our program to serve the needs of needy families in our area.
Donation boxes for new and unwrapped toys are at businesses and grocery stores throughout Lincoln, including The Lincoln News Messenger and the LIncoln Area Chamber of Commerce.
Merry Christmas, Lincoln, and once again, thank you for your support!
