The William Jessup University baseball team signed Union Mine High School senior Paul Gallegos this week to kick off the signing period for the 2017-18 season.
The Camino native will finish his senior year on the mound for the Union Mine Diamondbacks before heading to Jessup for the fall 2017 semester.
"We are very proud to add Paul to the Warrior family. Along with a great family support system, Paul possesses the tools and drive to become an outstanding collegiate pitcher," pitching coach Beau Moorehead said. "He will help us continue to build this program and have success in every aspect: school, baseball, and community development.
The left-handed pitcher is looking to finish his high school career strong, but is excited to start his journey on the William Jessup campus.
"I chose to come to William Jessup University because of their outstanding academics as well as the opportunity to continue my baseball career as a Warrior," Gallegos said. "In the next four years I would like to obtain my degree and help the team win a league title."
Gallegos will be studying kinesiology in hopes to continue his education in the medical field and one day become a sports medicine doctor.
