Lincoln High’s Destiny Everett, Saedy Williamson and Preston Summerhays qualified as individuals to compete in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Cross-Country Championships to be held at Willow Hill in Folsom Saturday.
The trio ran in the SJS Subsection Division II varsity race at Frogtown, Angels Camp to earn their invitation.
The Fighting Zebras girls missed qualifying as a team by one position, finishing in 11th place. They were beaten out by Vintage 274-285.
Everett crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 56.6 seconds over the 3-mile course, less than a minute behind the winning time of 18:03.4. The junior track and cross-country star completed the race in ninth place overall.
Williamson was the 30th runner to complete the race, coming in at 19:54.3.
Rounding out the Lincoln team was Natalie Jossis (76th, 21:49.2), Tyler Smith (78th, 21:57.4), Tara Budge (92nd, 23:00.8), Emma Burkholder (94th, 23:01.3) and Millie Hinson (135th, 26:46.1).
Summerhays led the Zebras’ boys, clocking in at 16:11.0. The winning time was 15:38.2.
Running with Summerhays for Lincoln were Christopher Pickett (88th, 18:11.1), Nathan Stewart (101st, 18:36.0), Arturo Medina (129th, 20:06.9), Aydon Torgersen (134th, 20:29.8), Matt Parrotte (144th, 21:13.8) and Joerell Fulmore (161st, 30:24.9).
Soph/Boys – 2.2 Miles
The Lincoln sophomore boys finished in the 18th spot, led by Tyler Nielsen. Nielsen’s time was 13:10.3 for the 65th spot.
Coming in for the Zebras behind Nielsen were Kai Christensen (85th, 13:26.5), Spencer Merrill (95th, 13:39. 7), Spencer Sparks (121st, 14:55.9), Matthew Flanagan (125th, 16:30.3) and Bryce Alma (126th, 16:48.2).
