Measure M will be before voters on Election Day, and if we want to stay on the path to economic prosperity, we need to approve it. When it comes to keeping Lincoln businesses strong and attracting new business to Lincoln to improve our economy; affordability, infrastructure and quality of life are the top factors.
Our transportation infrastructure is in dire need of repair, rehabilitation and improvement. The good news is Measure M will get us where we need to be. Lincoln probably benefits the most out of any other jurisdiction in Placer County. Measure M fixes the issues with the 80/Highway 65 interchange, widens Highway 65, builds an actual interchange at Nelson Lane, expands senior transit, designates money for safe routes to school and delivers nearly $56 million to the city for local street improvements. Within the first five years of Measure M, nearly the entire downtown will be rehabilitated and over the years our more recently built roads will have the resources to keep them in good shape. Without Measure M, none of these things will happen.
Many of the Placer County chambers, including the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce, have endorsed Measure M. We believe that the benefits of Measure M are worth the investment which is estimated at $63 per year (about $5.00 per month) for the average-sized household.
Please vote yes on Measure M.
Tom Cosgrove, Lincoln
