On alternate weeks, this column features photographs from Placer County (and maybe some neighbors) taken while riding my bike.
My hope is that the reader will be inspired to get on a bike and ride. This is a beautiful area and a wonderful place to bicycle.
Today’s photo theme is “one ride in pictures.”
My goal is to get you, the reader, out on your bike, because this is such a great place to ride. To prove my point, these photos were all taken on one 50-mile ride on Oct. 2.
Frankly, this isn’t even the most beautiful time of year but the weather is perfect for riding. And there are plenty of gorgeous roads to see.
Starting in Lincoln, we climbed Mt. Vernon and Joeger Road to Dry Creek Road in north Auburn. After heading south on Bowman, we picked up Lincoln Way and took a break in downtown Auburn.
Then it was off to descend Shirland Tract and Rattlesnake Road, a favorite route of mine. After a brief time on Auburn-Folsom Road, we headed west on Rock Springs to Penryn, then down Swetzer Road to King Road in Loomis.
Another climb, late in the ride, Sierra College to Highway 193, and home.
