Tom Cosgrove to be honored Friday as bypass shares his nameBy: Carol Feineman, Editor
State Road 65 Lincoln Bypass will be named the Thomas J. Cosgrove Memorial Highway this Friday.
Cosgrove, who died Feb. 8, 2017, was a longtime Lincoln advocate. Before becoming the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce’s CEO in January 2016, Cosgrove was a Lincoln City Councilman for 18 years.
One of his council priorities was spearheading the Highway 65 Bypass, which took decades of planning by multi agencies to open Oct. 7, 2012. Cosgrove worked almost daily on making sure the bypass would become a reality.
The Placer County Transportation Planning Agency, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the city of Lincoln invite all residents to the dedication ceremony from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Robert Jimenez Park.
Speakers include State Sen. Ted Gaines, State Assemblyman Kevin Kiley, Placer County Supervisor Jim Holmes, Lincoln Mayor Peter Gilbert and Caltrans District 3 Director Amarjeet Benipal.
Friday’s dedication ceremony is at Ferrari Ranch Road and Groveland Lane in the Lincoln Crossing area, which is next to the Highway 65 Bypass.
