New adult tennis group formed in Lincoln
A new tennis group has formed in Lincoln and open to all adults 18 or older. It is called Lincoln Adult Tennis (LAT), with matches played on the new lighted courts at Jimenez Park courts.
The next outing is 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 10.
LAT is spreading the word on the Valentine tennis social sponsored by Lincoln Parks and Recreation. It is free to participants and includes food, prizes and friendly people. The Jimenez facility is perfect for round-robin matches on all four courts.
The first social was held Jan. 13, with 17 players of assorted skills and ages, despite the fog and chilly weather. First place in the women’s class was Lisa Snapp and first for men was John Fischer.
The new courts provide an opportunity to build networks for similarly skilled players to find partners and opponents. LAT plans to generate interest in intra-club competition with other community tennis associations, such as United States Tennis Association (USTA) and Sacramento Area Tennis Association (SATA).
The new courts allow all residents of Lincoln to have daytime and evening access to both social and competitive tennis within our own community, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and strong sense of community.
