Penstein, Thompson all-league volleyballBy: Staff Report
Lincoln High’s Taylor Penstein and Jacqueline Thompson were named to the Pioneer Valley League’s all-league volleyball team this season.
Defensive specialist Taylor Penstein was selected to the PVL’s First Team. The senior led the Fighting Zebras with 148 digs this season with a 94-percent success rate.
Thompson, a libero and defensive specialist, was given honorable mention. Also a senior, Thompson had 145 digs.
The league MVP’s were Placer’s Alyssa Orteza and Katelin Duer from Colfax.
Orteza was a defensive specialist and libero. Orteza ranked seventh in the PVL in digs and was third in serving aces with 53 in 2017.
Duer, an outside hitter, was second in kills for the league and fifth in blocks.
