Revolution Express season begins in February

Camp: Feb. 9 for boys and girls grades 1-8.

 

The Revolution Express Track Club season begins in February and will run through July for boys and girls ages 7-18. The first practice is 6 p.m. Feb. 11 at Rocklin High School.

For youth grades 1-8 wanting to get acquainted with RETC, a camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 9, rain or shine, also at Rocklin High.

Under the guidance of Thunder co-head coach Roosevelt Kent and other specialized coaches, running (sprint, distance, hurdles and relays), jumping (long, high and triple) and throwing (shot put, javelin and discus) – plus pole vault, steeple chase, run-walk, pentathlons and decathlons, will be taught.

All is designed to help young athletes prepare for high school and beyond; experience welcome, but not necessary. Competitions begin in March with meets in Rocklin, Sacramento, Stockton, Oakdale and Reno, Nev.; full schedule at eteamz.com/Roseville express.

U.S. Junior Olympic Nationals are at California State University, Sacramento July 22-28. AAU Junior Olympic Nationals are at Greensboro, N.C. July 29-Aug. 23.

The youth camp Feb. 9 is $60 (free T-shirt for first 50 signees) with registration on the website (select CoachORegistration) and needed by Feb. 5. All events covered; wear layered clothing, including sweatshirt and running shoes (spikes not required). Also bring a sack lunch, snacks and water bottle.

Parents may attend, but not allowed on the track or infield.
