Gold Country Media and the Lincoln News Messenger welcomed a new member to its local team last week. Kathryn Palmer has joined the editorial staff as a full-time staff reporter.

Palmer’s home office will be at The Lincoln News Messenger. While her primary focus will be covering the news of the Lincoln community, she will also be an engaged content producer for multiple newspapers and magazines produced by Gold Country Media, including the Placer Herald, the Loomis News, the Roseville Press Tribune and monthly magazines.

“We are very pleased to welcome Kathryn to our team,” said Associate Publisher Bill Sullivan. “Kathryn has a strong background in multiple areas of journalism, including print, digital and broadcast news. She has a passion for community news, which is a perfect fit for this market.”

Palmer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz. “It was immediately apparent within my first week on staff that Lincoln and other south Placer cities really value local news,” Palmer said. “It’s a pleasure to cover an area populated by citizens who care deeply about the place they live in.”

She is a native of the Sacramento Valley and will work under the management of Editor Carol Feineman and cover a multitude of local topics, from government issues, breaking news and human interest feature stories.

“We are proud to have Kathryn as a staff reporter,” Feineman said. “She has hit the ground running her first week with powerful stories and meeting several community members. She looks forward to meeting as many community members as possible.”

If you have a story idea to share or want to introduce yourself, call Palmer at 916-774-7981, email or stop by the office at 553 F St.
